Meet Actor and Director Audrey Stecher!

She/Her/Hers

Hi! I’m Audrey Stecher—a Chicago-based actor and director originally from sunny Tampa, Florida. I hopped into theatre when I was eight and basically never hopped back out. By the time I graduated high school from a performing-arts magnet program, I’d worked on more than 25 productions, both onstage and behind the scenes. (Tiny Audrey took theatre very seriously.)

In 2024, I earned my BFA in Acting from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where I also received the Phi Kappa Phi Artist Award for my work in the department. After college, I packed up, braved the cold, and moved to Chicago.

A s an actor, I love diving into characters who are odd, bold, or delightfully offbeat—some favorites include Ermengarde in Hello, Dolly!, Wednesday in The Addams Family, and Rodentia in The Squirrels. Creating specific physical and vocal worlds for each role is one of my favorite parts of the process.

A s a director, I aim to build rehearsal rooms that feel open, collaborative, and curious. I love helping actors discover authentic connections that translate into genuinely electric performances. My directing experience ranges from comedic, fast-paced pieces like The Nerd and Quick Exit to heavier dramas like Lord of the Flies and An Experiment. I’m happiest when I get to explore a wide spectrum of storytelling.

Outside the theatre, I’m big on adventure—travel, exploration, trying new things, and saying “yes” to opportunities that scare me just a little (the good kind of scary, not the “wait, which train am I on?” kind).

Thanks for visiting! Feel free to explore the site to see what I’m working on next.
